#quiltspiration365 - Textiles Talk Wednesday!
Super excited to be a part of the Late Night Quilters group daily #Quiltspiration365!
So what does inspire my quilting/sewing? I have given this a lot of thought over the last couple of days and it all boils down to my love for textiles. I lovelovelove searching for the perfect fabric for a project. I also really love the textile design process. There are so many avenues that get you to a final textile design too. Which, brings me to my current inspiration... print maker and pattern designer, Andrea Lauren of Ink Print Repeat! Her designs are incredible and her process is simply inspiring.
It's pretty neat to see Andrea's design process via Instagram. If you don't already, you should follow her on IG STAT! I just love how she showcases her art through her images. Most images show the actual hand carved stamp and an example of what it looks like on paper. How cool is that?!? Some but not all of these images make their way over to her Spoonflower shop. Here you can order various types of fabric featuring her designs.
A couple of weeks ago I received an order for a Noodlehead Divided Basket using the Geometric Bear-cream print. I ordered the fabric from Spoonflower and had it printed on Kona cotton. I have just enough left over to add to an upcoming quilt project. Sweet! I really NEED to get my hands on more of Andrea's prints ASAP.
Now, back to #Quiltspiration365. What is it you say? Well, it's an effort to bring you quilty inspiration 365 days a year. #Quiltspiration365 consists of a group of bloggers (including me obviously!) from a FaceBook group called Late Night Quilters. The name of the group says it all! We stay up until the wee hours of the morning piecing, cutting and quilting. I often receive the "when do you sleep??" comment so my being in this group is quite fitting!
Need more inspiration for your next WIP? Join us as we bring you quilty inspiration 365 days a year! Here is a list of the blog posts from this past week:
- Kitty from Night Quilter brought us Color Inspiration Thursday {10}.
- Chelsey from Nini & the Sea gave us a Weekly Inspiration Linky Party.
- Caroline from Artfully Caroline started out this week with Quiltspiration 365 : A day of wonder and wander.

Custom Quilts! Summer 2014
I have had a couple of questions regarding options and price lists for custom quilts. Sometimes, for those who don't drool over fabric all day long, the options for picking out a design, selecting fabric and choosing coordinating colors can be totally overwhelming. By narrowing down the options a bit, I hope to make this process a lot less overwhelming. Ordering a custom, heirloom quality quilt can be done in just 4 steps!
Step 1 - Select a design!
Let's keep the design simple! This allows you to really focus on the fabric.
Step 2 - Select a size and know the cost up front!
Baby/Crib - $135
Toddler/Throw - $165
Twin - $200
*Message me for a quote for a larger size!
*Keep in mind that I do offer a 50% down payment option to get your quilt started!
Step 3 - Select a fabric for the back!
These are just fabrics that I have readily available. If none of these appeal to you, send me a message and I will help you find the perfect fabric! Please note that the prices in step 2 are based on the above fabric selections.
I just LOVE the simplicity of this design. With a pattern on the front and an interesting fabric print on the back, you are really getting 2 quilts in one!
Step 4 - Select a color combo for the front!
Yowsers, that's a lot to choose from! Need help deciding? Let me know. I love choosing colors. Also, keep in mind that sometimes, simple is better. Especially if you have a fantastic print for the back.
A custom quilt generally takes approximately 4-6 weeks to complete. If there is ever a change to this time frame, I will let you know upfront.
If you have any questions regarding custom orders please see my 'Custom Order Info' page or send me me an email.

New lens!
I finally ordered a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens for my camera. Um, WOW is all I can say. What a difference!
I lovelovelove the low f-stop situation! Pictured above is our sweet new cat, LB, who showed up on our doorstep a couple of months ago now. He's a keeper!
Yes, he's a mess, but check out his eyes! That is exactly how they look in real life. I did not use a filter nor did I edit the above pic. Super impressed!
The new lens is also amazing for photographing items for my shop! How cute is that pillow? The fabric is just adorable. Enchant by Natalie Lymer (Cinderberry Stitches). I just so happen to have the pillow AND the fabric available in my shop.
Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!

It's this print pictured below that originally drew me to the line. So very sweet! A tea party with bunnies and hedgies! What more can one ask for?
I am also loving this print featuring birds on a line. So simple, yet so cute. I see so many possibilities with this print!
As I do with all fabric, once it arrives, I lovelovelove to scour the Internet (Pinterest!) and see what other people have made with this fabric. I found a bunch of really adorable patterns using this fabric, as well as some patterns that I think Enchant would really compliment.
There are 4 prints from the collection offered in my shop as well as a pre-cut 10" layer cake (includes a 10" square of every print in the collection!).
I would LOVE to see what you make using this fabric. If you are on Instagram, please feel free to use #BeKnitPicky to show off your project!
